Terms, at the same altitude as the code.

Shiba is AGPL-3.0-only open-source software maintained by one person. There is no company, no subscription, and no contract to negotiate. These terms cover this website and the project as published on GitHub.

✦

The short version

The license is the deal: use, study, modify, and share under AGPL-3.0-only. The software ships as-is with no warranty. When you self-host it, the infrastructure, the model bills, and the generated code are yours.

The license is the terms

Shiba is published under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0 only (AGPL-3.0-only). Your rights and obligations for using, modifying, and distributing the software are defined by that license text, which ships in the repository's LICENSE file ↗. If you run a modified version as a network service, the AGPL requires you to offer its source to users of that service.

Nothing on this site grants rights beyond the license, and nothing here takes away rights the license gives you.

As-is, honestly

The software and this site are provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. The maintainer is not liable for damages arising from use of the software, to the maximum extent permitted by law.

Concretely: Shiba is an early-stage approval-gated coding agent. Approval gates, egress controls, and credential boundaries are engineering controls, not guarantees. Treat generated code as untrusted, review changes, run tests, and use least-privilege credentials scoped to repositories you are comfortable exposing.

Your account, your bill, your code

  • Self-hosted installations run in your Cloudflare account. Usage charges on that account (Workers, Durable Objects, Sandbox containers, AI Gateway) are yours.
  • Model inference is billed by whichever provider you configure, under your agreement with that provider.
  • Code the agent writes is output you own and are responsible for reviewing, licensing, and shipping.
  • You control retention and deletion for your deployment's data. Clearing history does not erase all child Durable Object data; see the security docs.

This site and its waitlist exist to share project updates and coordinate contributors. Joining the waitlist creates no entitlement to access, support, or uptime; self-hosting never requires it. Do not submit the form on behalf of someone else or try to abuse the endpoint; submissions are rate-limited and honeypot-filtered.

Content on this site, including docs and the journal, is descriptive. Where the site says something is implemented, the repository is the source of truth; where it says something is unverified, believe it.

Changes and contact

These terms may change as the project does; the current version lives at this URL and in git history. Questions, disputes, or takedown requests go through the GitHub issue tracker ↗.
